Respiratory Conditions
I have been a medicolegal expert since 1995, being asked to give an opinion on some 600+ cases in my field either for the complainant, the defence or as a single joint expert, producing some 50 reports per year. I have appeared at the high court 5 times, the court of appeal once and the family court 3 times. However most cases never get to court being either settled or not pursued on the basis of the experts' opinion. Since retirement from acute NHS care, I do not do breach of duty in cases where the alleged breach was 2018 onwards.
My name has been put forward to claimants many times via the charity Action for Victims of Medical Accidents (AVMA) and I appear in various medical expert directories such as Expert Witness and the register of expert witnesses. For many years I have provided opinions on suspicious or unexplained child deaths for the National Crime Agency (NCA).
In 2018 I was appointed as a judicial office holder, medical member to the social entitlement chamber (SEC) to hear cases in the disability appeals tribunal.
My current claimant/defence split depends on the type of case:
Birth injury C and P 50/50, housing disrepair 80C/20D, Causation 50/50
